Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s novel One Hundred Years of Solitude is “filled with haunting creatures” and represents the solitude and misery of the inhabitants of Macondo. As, the establishment of Macondo is based on guilt of incest, it is this incest which is the cause of solitude of its inhabitants. Throughout we see generations of Buendia’s suffering a similar fate. The present paper proposes to highlight that how a name decided the fate of a family and will highlight the prickly solitude which became a legacy for all the Aureliano’s and ultimately the cause of their doom. It will focus on a particular generation of the Buendia family namely Aureliano’s who succumb to a hundred years of solitude. As the town of Macondo is isolated and alienated from the outside world similar is the case with all the persons who possess the name of Aureliano in the town of Macondo. The persons with the name of Aureliano are said to have a solitary air and we see Aureliano after Aureliano succumbing to a similar fate. Female predicament has remained a hot debate since ages and a lot of writers have raised their voice against the said issue in their writings. Despite being equally involved in the development of a society a woman has always been at the receiving end. She has always suffered at the hands of man. She has always been ignored and has remained confined to the four walls of her house. In a male dominated society she has always been a mute spectator. But with the passage of time and evolution of feminist movements, the said issue has gained a lot of impetus. The article shows the wrongs to which women are subjected and will focus on the problems and psychological trauma faced by the women with special reference of J M Synge’s drama In the Shadow of the Glen. It aims to portray the problems and obstacles which the Irish women in general and the women living in the country Wicklow in particular came across. These women were imprisoned in a male dominated society unable to share their grief and agony. Keywords: Wicklow, psychological, trauma, predicament, portray, agony.

Despite the advanced processing advantages for low cost, flexible and highly efficient solar cells, the technology is still facing the challenges with regard to the stability of materials in terms of moisture, thermal, light and oxygen atmosphere. The recent discovery of lead halide perovskite has increased a surge of interest in the field of photovoltaics. The chapter highlights some ways that can improve the stability and reducing the toxicity without compromising the efficiency of perovskite. Most of the part includes the review on the actual knowledge and cutting edge research results of high efficiency perovskites. It further describes the materials (Oxides and hybrid halides) that can be used for real time solar cell applications

Therapeutic properties of meswak chewing sticks: A review

    Get PDF
Meswak “a chewing stick” usually 15 cm long and 1 cm in diameter is taken from the roots or young twigs of Salvadora persica L. Meswak has been used in folk medicine for a very long time for different medical condition treatments. The cultural and religious use of meswak for dental hygiene is still wildly spread, throughout parts of Asia, Africa, and Middle East, and because of its wide distribution. Clinical studies comparing adult habitual meswak users and habitual toothbrush users have shown better periodontal status in meswak users. However, the beneficial effects of meswak in respect of oral hygiene and dental health are partly due to its mechanical action and pharmacological actions. Different studies conclude that the values of these sticks are probably due to their different chemical components and ways of cleaning mechanisms. Previous literature reveals that meswak has strong antimicrobial (antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral) and pharmacological (hypoglycemic, anti-platelet aggregation, anti-ulcer, and anti-oxidative) activities. The use of meswak has been recommended by Islam. Actually, meswak was known before Islam, but Islam added a religious prospective to the use of meswak. It is endowed by several characteristics supporting its use. In view of such facts, the ecology, geographical distribution, and the chemical constituents of the plant have been investigated time by time by several researchers. The therapeutic aspects of meswak and its important role in plaque control, gingival recession, tooth wear, bleeding gums, and periodontal health as well as its availability and cheap cost factor may be the major reasons for its recommendation by world health organization. The present review concludes the biology of meswak tree and cultural value of meswak with reference to current literature. Keywords: Meswak, folk medicine, Islam, dental, oral hygiene, antimicrobial, revie

Optimality Conditions For Multi-Objective Interval-Valued Optimization Problem On Hadamard Manifolds

The KKT optimality conditions for multi-objective interval-valued optimization problem on Hadamard manifold are studied in this paper. Several concepts of Pareto optimal solutions, considered under LU and CW ordering on the class of all closed intervals in R\mathbb{R}, are given. The KKT conditions are presented under the notions of convexity, pseudo-convexity and generalized Hukuhara difference. We show, with the help of an example, that the results done in this paper for solving multi-objective interval-valued optimization problems on Hadamard spaces are more general than the existing ones on Euclidean spaces. The main results are supported by examples

    Get PDF
The effect of different synthesis techniques on structural, microstructural and electrical properties of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) was investigated. Two different techniques viz solid state reaction (SSR) and sol-gel (SG) method were used to prepare the samples. X-ray studies have confirmed the single phase formation of LSMO by both the techniques. The average grain size was 2 m for solid state reaction sample and 22 nm for sol-gel sample. A substantial enhancement in electrical resistivity was observed in the sample with nanosized grains. The micro grain size sample exhibited metallic behaviour whereas nanoparticle sample showed metal-insulator transition around 250 K. A technical note on "The KKT Optimality Conditions For Optimization Problem With Interval-Valued Objective Function On Hadamard Manifolds"

In this technical note, we disprove S.-L. Chen's \cite{chen} assertion that the generalized Hukuhara directional differentiability of an interval-valued function defined on a Hadamard manifold is fully identical to the directional differentiability of its endpoint functions by providing a counterexample. Moreover, we address imprecisions in several results proved by using the aforementioned assertion in \cite{chen}. We provide correct statements of the imprecise results and construct examples in their support
